Stopping Observations and Closing the Telescope

When you have finished observations for the day, the telescope must be closed and left in the home position.

  1. Move the telescope to the Down position
  2. Go up the tower and replace the main lens and finder covers
  3. Move the telescope to the Home position
  4. Press the Park Telescope button on the main window
  5. When prompted, press the big red motor power button (located next to the turret monitor)
  6. Exit the turret software

Please note that it is very important for the telescope to be left in the home position while not in use. If not left in this position (pointing up) then there is a risk of damaging the lens in the event of vacuum failure in the tube.
