Sun is so low in the sky that the image is fuzzy.
Solen står ännu så lågt på himlen att bilden är suddig eftersom ljuset måste passera genom så mycket luft.

The solar granulation - a grainy pattern can be seen around the dark disk of Mercury.
Solens granulation syns som ett spräckligt mönster runt den mörka silhuetten av Merkurius.

Mercury is again approaching the solar limb - one side of the image is now darker. The bright spots are magnetic elements on the sun.
Merkurius börjar närma sig solranden - en sida av bilden är lite mörkare. De ljusa punkterna utgör magnetkoncentrationer på solen.

Still closer to the solar limb. The limb darkening of the sun is now obvious. It is there because we now look into the solar atmosphere at a slanting angle and thus don't see so deep.
Merkurius närmar sig solranden alltmer. Randfördunklingen blir allt tydligare. Den innebär att solen ser mörkare ut nära kanten eftersom vi där inte ser så djupt in i dess atmosfär.

The limb is now in view! The transit is soon over.
Nu syns solranden. Snart är det slut!
