Active region observed in Ca II 8542 Å.
Observer: Luc Rouppe van der Voort
Data reduction: Jaime de la Cruz Rodriguez
This line scan illustrates the contrast between the photospheric wings and the chromospheric core. Full-Stokes observations allow infererce of the magnetic field strength and orientation: the Stokes Q and U profiles are originated by magnetic field that is perpendicular to the line-of-sight, whereas Stokes V is produced by the longitudinal magnetic field component.

Umbral flashes
Observer: Luc Rouppe van der Voort
Data reduction: Jaime de la Cruz Rodriguez
Recorded at -192 mÅ from the core of the Ca II 8542 line.
Umbral flashes are a clear example of shock-wave propagation in the solar atmosphere.
