The Target Menu
Targets are chosen via the Target menu on the main window (and also interactively from the star map - see Section 4.3). Each target is described below.
- Sun
This is the solar disk centre. Offsets can be introduced via the interactive solar grid display (see section 4.2), or by using the handpaddle (see section 4.6).
- Planets
Presents a list of most of the solar system planets.
- Moon
Moon disk centre.
- Star
A list of bright stars currently above the horizon.
- Comet
If data is available, a comet may be selected.
- RA/Decl
RA/Decl coordinates can be entered and stored.
- Az/El
Select a fixed position on the sky in degrees Az/El.
- Down
The position for opening and closing the telescope aperture. Its coordinates are stored in the turret config file (see appendix C).
- Home
This is the home position (pointing up), where the telescope should be left when not in use. These coordinates are also stored in the turret config file (see appendix C).
