Opening the Telescope and Tracking Celestial Objects

To open the telescope:

1. Select the Down target from the target menu on the main window
2. Press the Goto/Track button
3. The telescope will begin moving, with the estimated time to the target displayed on the main window
4. When it has reached the Down position, go up the tower and remove the main lens and finder covers

The target menu can now be used to select a celestial target. Typically, solar observers will only need to track the sun, but it is also possible to choose from a selection of stars or planets, or to enter Az/El or RA/Decl coordinates (see section 4.1.1).
